Edgar

Meet Edgar

Edgar was referred to Hearts Aligned from Marian Regional Medical Center. He was born without concern and went home. Four days later, he was in the NICU – his body was unable to control his sodium and potassium levels, a very serious and life-threatening condition called pseudo-hypoaldosteronism. Edgar was transferred to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera where he remained for 3 months while doctors tried to get his sodium and potassium levels stabilized. Subsequently, Edgar would return to the ER and to Valley Children’s Hospital 3 more times for stays that lasted both weeks and months due to the instability of his condition.

The family has suffered tremendously. Dad is the sole income earner and mom stays home with her two other children, ages 4 and 5. The drive between their home and Valley Children’s Hospital is 200 miles. Dad stopped working to be at the hospital with his son, sacrificing a steady paycheck.

With your support, Hearts Aligned provided rental assistance, diapers, gas and grocery cards to the family. We referred the family to other local organizations – Mothers’ Helpers, LEAP, Unity Shoppe and The Starfish Connection – to help the family receive the most benefits as they navigate this difficult road.

Your donations go towards supporting families like Edgar’s and make a big impact in their lives.
